No one needs an introduction or comment on the features of
Xiaomi smartphones. Ever since the Chinese brand made it’s debut in Indian
market space, there are lot of speculations around it. To my knowledge, if
Indians trusted a Chinese brand to its fullest potential, I must admit that it
should be none other than ‘Xiaomi’.
Xiaomi partnered with eCommerce giant Flipkart and it is the
only available exclusive channel through which the device can be acquired by
customers. Although there were controversies of flash sale model of its
predecessor Xiaomi mi3, the interest of Indian consumers didn’t dipped a bit!
And the sad part, Flipkart continues with the flash sale for Redmi 1S as well.
The success of Xiaomi in Indian market is a surprised one because of the fact that Indians don’t trust a brand which is relatively new. May be because of this reason, Xiaomi itself unable to anticipate the number of units to put on sale which was driven well beyond the expectation. Sooner or later, when Xiaomi’s second release Redmi goes for sale one can expect the same amount of supply demand and thereby making customers thriving hard than ever to get a piece.

As the number of internet users in India is scaling up
gradually, sale through eCommerce retailers is not a bad idea. Infact, the
growth of online retailers is so huge and revenue driven. Xiaomi made a master stroke by choosing
Flipkart wisely. On one side, Flipkart underestimated the traffic and they were
not prepared to hold such large customer base. On another side Xiaomi’s
disastrous forecast of sales and unable to be inline with the demand. And for
the customers, placing an order is like conquering the world! A bad case study
and market analysis is what responsible for this churn.
Service is the biggest asset for any brand and Xiaomi
understands how important it is. They are setting up service centres in key
cities and planned to establish many more in other areas in quick succession.
Surely it takes some time but faster they connect with people, faster they relay
totally on the brand.
Xiaomi should be very thankful for the Indian customers for
appreciating a new brand to flourish by beating the pioneers like Nokia,
Samsung, Apple and other manufacturers. If they continue to provide such
affordable Smartphone’s to the customers in an affordable price, I’m sure that
Xiaomi will dethrone all other major counterparts and emerge as No 1 smartphone
in India. It has the right potential and let’s see how far they boom.
